You might want to check our condition guide video tutorial (soon available in English!):
Let's start by saying that 20+ years of selling vintage & second-hand helped us learn a lot on how to describe the condition of the items we sell. Our customers say that we tend to describe the items we sell in better condition than how they really are. This is overall very helpful in increasing our condition standards, reducing the return percentages, and satisfying a wider range of our customer's general condition standards.
Selling vintage & second-hand items can be very tricky, if you are a starter and you don't have a lot of experience. The most important lesson we learnt is that there is no end in learning! And we keep learning every day from our customer feedback.
We use a simple rating, which goes from A+ to C. Then we go into details of any signs of wear with a full description called "CONDITION DETAILS" which you may find in the item description of all our listings. What we found really useful (which is what many of you asked for) is the use of white arrows in the images which show specific wear or signs.

These arrows help customers to immediately spot the most significant aspect of the image they are looking at. Very helpful especially when you are in a rush and quickly surf through images, instead of watching them carefully :-)

A+ - MINT (or LIKE NEW)

Ray-Ban vintage mint singlasses NEW OLD STOCK

Very few items have this rating/category. You will find a lot of eyewear, which has been previously purchased from what we call "NEW OLD STOCKS" (items which have never been worn or used, and have been stored years in some eyewear basement, and have now become vintage ;-). Very few bags have this rating. An A+ bag would come directly from the store, and has never been worn. This sometimes happens (a perfect example is an unwanted gift, which for some reason cannot be returned).

A - EXCELLENT

A vast portion of the items we sell fall into this rating. Our goal is to purchase and sell items which are in EXCELLENT CONDITION. These items have been worn very few times, and they do not present any major or significant wear. Most of the customers who purchase items rated as EXCELLENT are extremely happy with the overall state, and often say that they look like they have never been used.

B - VERY GOOD

Any item which has a visible defect, wear or sign of use which needs a more detailed description or attention, falls into this category. When you read VERY GOOD in the item description, you might want to check out the images carefully, because there could be some white arrows which show you any relevant wear or sign which might determine your purchase. Watch out for wear on bottom corners, some signs on the internal lining. These are frequent when items are rated VERY GOOD. Once again, customers are incredibly happy when they receive VERY GOOD rated items, and often say they are under rated!

C - FAIR

Most vintage, well used (we tend to say PRE-LOVED) items can be rated as FAIR. Most of the time, these are rare, unique, one-of-a-kind items which are there for collectors and vintage enthusiasts, who may decide to purchase them at a very good price from us, and then have them restored or polished locally. This often happens with our customers.
